Why Mercer Island

A six-square-mile island in the middle of the Eastside.

Tucked into Lake Washington between Seattle and Bellevue, Mercer Island is a rare thing in the Pacific Northwest: a self-contained island community of roughly 25,700 residents and about 9,500 homes spread across just 6.2 square miles of land. With I-90 running across its north end, downtown Seattle is about 10 minutes west and downtown Bellevue is about 5 minutes east — and the new East Link light rail stations now make a car-free commute to both cities a daily reality.

What keeps families here is the rare combination of proximity and calm. The Mercer Island School Districtis consistently ranked among the top public districts in Washington, with Mercer Island High School routinely appearing in U.S. News & World Report's state top ten. The island posts one of the lowest violent-crime rates in the Seattle metro, and Niche and WalletHub have named it among the best places to live and raise a family in the state year after year.

You'll find 475+ acres of parks and open space — Luther Burbank, Pioneer Park, Clarke Beach — miles of waterfront and trails, an active Town Center walkable from most neighborhoods, and an annual calendar that runs from Summer Celebration! and the Mostly Music concert series to front-row seats for the Blue Angels each Seafair weekend.

It's the kind of place people move to once and stay for thirty years. My job is to help you find the right corner of it — or, when the time comes, to sell it well.
